Suzhou Embroidery Comes to Manhattan

As brands expand overseas, cultural exchange matters more than ever. SVCC recently brought China’s intangible cultural heritage — Suzhou embroidery — to Manhattan and Long Island’s Ross School, introducing New York audiences to this centuries-old craft.
In Manhattan, the program included exchange with GCTV and cross-platform media collaboration to support cultural products and brand storytelling for Chinese enterprises going global. The event was not only a showcase of embroidery, but an exploration of how Eastern craftsmanship can connect with Western audiences.
Participants learned about the origins, techniques, and cultural meaning of Suzhou embroidery. Students and teachers engaged hands-on, experiencing the precision and artistry behind the work.
The enduring appeal of Suzhou embroidery
As one of China’s four great embroidery traditions, Suzhou embroidery has a history of more than two thousand years. Known for refined technique — especially in florals, birds, and landscapes — each piece reflects patience, skill, and aesthetic depth. Through this collaboration with media partners, SVCC continues to help culture-driven brands tell their stories internationally.
